Hi, I’m Katin! Nice to meet you!
I’m excited, delighted and SO glad I was invited to join the team at Stay In Your Lane as a Fractional Ops Executive/COO! Ingrid, Patti, and the rest of the team have built an organization committed to building cult brands through the art of storytelling and owning unique superpowers. I’m humbled and grateful to be a part of it.
What drew me to this opportunity was the desire to use my unique skills and expertise to impact a variety of brands across the franchise industry at various stages of growth. My creative side loves the variety of solving new problems and finding sustainable solutions to scale franchise operations teams.
For the last 10 years I served in various leadership roles within a large fitness franchise organization. While this was an incredible experience and a meaningful part of my professional story, there were times when it felt like the movie Groundhog Day- even though people said they wanted to change and improve, they were so stuck to doing things the same way that real change became impossible. When leaders fall in love with their ideas and beliefs, it creates constraints and slows the change process down to a constipated state.
My sweet spot is developing systems and processes to streamline operations and enable teams to focus on what’s most important to their customers and stakeholders. Franchising is all about systems, so when something is going wrong you should first look towards the system instead of pointing fingers at the people to find the broken link in the chain. Once you have a strong system and processes in place, you’re able to focus on helping people develop the skills they will need to grow along with the brand. Leadership development is a lifelong passion and commitment of mine and I’d love to share my proven approach to people development with others who are on this journey!
An unpopular opinion: if you’re not pissing SOME people off, you’re doing it wrong. If you’re really creating change and moving the needle on growth it’s going to make some people uncomfortable, and maybe downright angry. That’s OK, and the sooner you accept that fact the sooner you can move towards the stage of gaining shared understanding, trust and alignment with those you’ve pissed off.
I believe many growing franchise brands could benefit from my level of skill and expertise but may not be ready to hire a full-time operations executive. As a Fractional COO, I can make an immediate impact by providing leadership, guidance and mentorship through crystallizing and sharing the lessons I learned across my career journey.
Let’s chat so I can learn more about your organization’s needs and gaps, and how I may be able to help your team with fractional executive support, training needs or project-based work.
